Electrolysis
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you want to know about electrolysis, before your first appointment.
What is electrolysis hair removal?
Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved method for genuinely permanent hair removal. An extremely fine, sterile probe, about the size of the hair itself, is guided into the follicle, and a small electrical current disables the follicle’s growth center so the hair can no longer regrow.
How does electrolysis work?
The probe delivers a controlled current to the base of the follicle, destroying the cells responsible for producing hair. The treated hair then simply slides out. Because hair grows in cycles, a series of sessions gradually treats every follicle as it enters its active growth phase.
Is it suitable for all hair and skin types?
Yes. Unlike laser, electrolysis works on every hair color, including blonde, red, gray and white, and on all skin tones, because it does not depend on pigment to target the follicle.
Is electrolysis painful?
Most clients feel only a mild, brief sensation. Comfort varies by area and individual, and Isabel tailors the settings and technique to keep each session as comfortable as possible.
How long does it take to see results?
You’ll notice hair returning thinner, weaker and more slowly after each visit. Because hair grows in cycles, permanent results build over a planned series of appointments that catch every follicle in its active phase.
Are there any side effects or risks?
Side effects are minimal, typically slight redness or swelling that settles within a few hours. With sterile, single-use probes and proper aftercare, risks are very low.
What areas of the body can be treated?
Virtually anywhere unwanted hair grows: eyebrows, lip, chin, cheeks and full face, neck, underarms, arms, bikini line, legs and more.
How does it compare to waxing or laser?
Shaving and waxing are only temporary, and laser can treat only darker, pigmented hair. Electrolysis is the single method proven to remove hair permanently, on any hair color and any skin tone.
Is electrolysis safe?
Yes. Electrolysis has been used safely since 1875 and remains the only FDA-approved permanent hair removal method. Isabel uses sterile, single-use probes and meticulous sanitation at every appointment.
How much does electrolysis cost?
Pricing is based on the time and the area treated, with straightforward hourly rates and money-saving multi-session packages. See the Investment page for the full menu.
